5 Good ideas to think about when starting your own business: 1. A mail box away from your home. This gives you a safe way to do transactions over the internet without anyone knowing your home address. We prefer The UPS Store (formerly Mail Boxes, Etc.). They sign for and accept packages for you, whereas a P.O. box won't, and you can check your mail anytime...night or day! 2. A business phone line. This is always handy for keeping personal and business calls separate. We like Vonage broadband service because you aren't limited to your own area code. If you find that you have several customers in a specific state, you can add virtual phone numbers to your account for about $5 each per month...giving your customers a local number to call without you having to pay expensive 800 number fees! 3. Online postage. If your business requires a lot of mailing, you will LOVE Stamps.com! We use this ourselves and have found it very convenient to mail items out on our own time without having to go to the post office and wait in line. 4. Registering your business in your local community. Be sure to make yourself official and register your business name locally! 5. Join your local Chamber of Commerce! This is a great way to introduce your business to your community as well as show your support for other area businesses. |
